AMA — What is Apple TV+

I recently had a friend mention that they received an annual fee of $49.00 from Apple for Apple TV…and it honestly puzzled me. Particularly because they don’t have an Apple TV device nor do they subscribe to Apple One. Hmm, strange…and intriguing. I have a range of apple products…a really wide range…perhaps an obsessively wide range…but that’s a story for another time. Needless to say, this puzzling scenario led me down the path of exploration.

I like to think of myself as a personal Apple AMA (Ask-Me-Anything) Assistant for my friends and family…and so my research began. But first, a bit of history…every tale needs a backstory, right?! I own several Apple devices — Iphones, Apple Watch, Apple Mini, Apple Laptop and several Apple TV devices. Plus, I am an iCloud & Apple One subscriber. However, none of those items charge an annual fee of $49.00…so what’s going on?

And then it occurred to me that I watch a lot of streaming content on those devices. Although, Netflix is probably my “go to” streaming platform of choice…I pay for a range of other streaming content (which I often wish were bundled nicely)…it really just depends on what content I want to watch. So I thought that perhaps my friend purchased a bundled streaming deal (like Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN) and were being charged the subscription via their apple id/membership account.
